American Journal of Botany

Research in Medical Education papers are presentations of a single original research study that is theoretically relevant and methodologically sound. This category represents AMEE's highest level of single study presentations. Themed sessions reporting original research, presentations per session. Each presentation is 15 minutes, followed by 5 minutes for discussion. Time is allocated at the end of the session for general discussion. Abstracts are generally rejected as Research Reports for one or more of the following reasons: Please review these prior to submitting your Research Report abstract to ensure that it meets the requirements for a Research Report.

Here are the major reasons why Research Reports are rejected by reviewers. Incomplete studies studies must be completed at the time of submission of the Research Report. If your proposed Research Report abstract contains any of the categories listed above we encourage you to submit your abstract as a short communication rather than a Research Report.

This presentation format offers the opportunity for a small group of participants to have indepth discussions on a specific theme. Sessions will take place in boardroom format, with all participants seated around one table to promote interaction and discussion. A chairperson will coordinate the session. No AV is provided!

Short communications are simultaneous, themed sessions included throughout the programme, with six presentations per session. Each presenter is allocated 10 minutes for presentation followed by 5 minutes for questions. Whether or not you are used to making presentations at conferences and meetings, your presentation at AMEE will be an exciting opportunity to demonstrate your work to colleagues from around the world.

Since you only have a short time to make an impact, conciseness and clarity will be key features of your presentation. We suggest you try out your presentation in advance on some colleagues to get their feedback as to whether your message and your visuals were clear. After you have given your presentation we hope you will stay on for the rest of the session, ask questions of your fellow presenters if the opportunity arises.

Any remaining time at the end of the session will be used for general discussion of the issues raised from any or all of the papers. By doing this we hope it will enhance the experience for you, the other presenters and the audience.

Instructions for Authors

Posters can be mounted on Sunday 25 August from hrs or by hrs on Monday 26 August. A board will be provided, labelled with the poster number, title and authors. Fixing materials will be provided. Please do not affix posters to any place other than the board to which it has been allocated, and use only the fixing material supplied. Posters should be removed by hrs on Wednesday 28 August. Posters not removed by this time will be removed from the boards and may be destroyed.

Instructions to author

Each themed group will be allocated a discussion session in the programme which will take place around the poster boards. Presenters should meet the Chairperson by the poster boards ten minutes before the scheduled start of the session. All participants are invited to join in. This will be followed by a short period for questions and discussion.

The Chairperson will introduce each presenter and keep the session to time. Any time at the end of the session could be used for discussion or for individual viewing. No audio-visual aids, other than the poster, will be available. It is helpful to fix a note to your poster board indicating when you will be available if anyone wishes to meet with you outside of the scheduled session. A handout with the key messages of your poster and your contact details is helpful, and you are encouraged to bring some with you.
